Friday
North Island, mainly fine, but cloudy periods in the west and a shower or two from Taranaki to Wellington. South Island, showers developing in the west. Mainly fine elsewhere, but some drizzle about the Canterbury Plains and Kaikoura Coast at first.

Saturday
North Island, rain developing, but dry in the south and east until nightfall. South Island, rain in the west spreading to Nelson and northern Marlborough. Cloud increasing elsewhere.

Sunday
North Island, heavy rain about Bay of Plenty at first, otherwise showers, but becoming fine in the east. South Island,rain in the west easing. Showers elsewhere and becoming colder in the south.

Chatham Islands
Rain on Friday with strong northeasterlies. Fine spells on Saturday with northerlies. Rain developing on Sunday with northerlies becoming strong.
