Exports — Exporting Potatoes |
The first step when considering exporting fresh potatoes is to check the import country's phytosanitary requirements. The import requirements of countries vary from requiring no phytosanitary measures to compliance with the MAFBNZ export requirement programme. A summary of importing country requirements can be downloaded by clicking on the link below. Potatoes to be exported to countries that require MAFBNZ certification of freedom from potato cyst nematode are required to be grown in compliance with the MAF "Compliance Programme for Provision of PCN Additional Declarations (PDF)". Application forms, programme rules, and registers of growers and their production sites, packhouses, storage facilities and exporters can be found at the MAF Biosecurity NZ website. Copies of the application forms and the programme rules are also available here, for ease of access. A short summary of the requirements of the scheme is provided in the links below:
In addition to the PCN compliance programme, there are other phytosanitary requirements that have to be met for some markets. A summary of the requirements has been produced for the convenience of growers and exporters. This summary does not replace the official requirements described in the MAF ICPRs (Importing Country Phytosanitary Requirements) and exporters and packers should always refer to the MAF documents as the definitive source of information. |
