Compliance programmes
While some countries have no phytosanitary requirements on its food imports, others have rigorous requirements. These are generally met if a grower complies with the MAFBNZ (MAF Biosecurity New Zealand) export requirement programme for potato cyst nematode (see below). The first step when considering exporting fresh potatoes is to check these for each import country being considered.
The ICPR quick guide is a summary of various countries' requirements. Please note that this summary does not replace the official requirements described in MAF's "Importing Country Phytosanitary Requirements", which is the definitive source of information.
Potato cyst nematode (PCN) and Potato Wart
Potatoes to be exported to countries that require MAFBNZ certification of freedom from potato cyst nematode must be grown in compliance with MAF's "Compliance Programme for Provision of PCN Additional Declarations". This programme has recently been updated. Information about the programme and application forms can be found at the MAF Biosecurity NZ website, however, for ease of access, application forms and programme rules etc. are listed below.
