Second weekly update on psyllid traps for 2011
Status as at 14/01/2011: Adult potato psyllid numbers are increasing rapidly in most North Island areas. The average last week in Pukekohe was over 50 per trap and in Hawkes Bay just under 20 per trap. The latest Manawatu data is from the week ending 7th January but shows an increase to around 16 per trap, and it is expected numbers will have increased further in the week to 14th January. Crop monitoring also indicates that nymphs are present in crops in the North Island. South Island adult numbers are also increasing steadily.
See most recent data tables and graphs.
Each week Potatoes New Zealand reports on the number of tomato potato psyllids (TPP) and other species of psyllids in the psyllid traps to help growers monitor and control for the potato tomato psyllid. Traps are localed in Pukekohe, Waikato, Hawkes Bay, Manawatu, North Canterbury, Mid Canterbury and South Canterbury. Numbers of tomato potato psyllids (TPP) and other species of psyllids are reported.
