Psyllid Information Meetings
In November, meetings continued to be held to discuss psyllid monitoring and coordination for the 2010-11 season.
These took place in Pukekohe (3rd), Hastings (18th) and Palmerston North (25th).
Last season information on psyllid flights was gathered and made available to growers. Work was also done to assess the impact of psyllid and what pest control practices were being undertaken. A series of discussion meetings were also held (organised by Horticentre), and meetings with international speakers were organised by Potatoes New Zealand.
Potatoes New Zealand would like gauge whether there is a need to do more to coordinate psyllid monitoring activities – for example by growers working together and sharing information. We would also like to know whether you want to continue with the discussion meetings in each region.
We hope that representatives of both grower and industry will continue to attend the meetings to discuss their needs – the work programme that we undertake this summer will be based on these discussions.
