New psyllid insecticide registered
Sparta™, a new insecticide for psyllid control, has been registered in New Zealand for use on potatoes by Dow AgroSciences. The active ingredient of Sparta is spinetoram, which works by both contact and ingestion activity. Exposed larvae stop feeding immediately but can take up to 3 days to die. Sparta belongs to the spinosyn group of insecticides.
